As well as our meet ups, Leeds Bi Groups try to have a presence at local LGBT Prides and to do outreach stalls at various events throughout the year.
In 2015, Leeds Bi Group marched in Leeds Pride for the first time. One of our volunteers was also invited on stage for a quick talk on bisexuality (to read their speach, check out their blog here). It was an amazing experience and, though it may sound clichéd, it was great to stand together and be proud of who we are.
We have also run stalls at the last two Leeds IDAHOBIT (International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia, 17th May) events, at local Fresher’s Fairs and at Bradford and York's 2016 Prides. We often make our stalls interactive, engaging people on topics such as “What is biphobia?”, “Bisexuality is…” and “The Kinsey-ish scale”, as well as offering plenty of bi+ resources.
For more information about upcoming events like these, join our monthly newsletter or follow us on social media (see Contact Us).
If you would like to volunteer to help at any of these events, or you are running/know of an event we might be interested in, please let us know.
